I've experienced Founder Fellowship at On Deck, which helped over 1,000 companies start up and raise over $2 billion.At Transcend Network Fellowship, I was part of aglobal network of 300+ founders from 49 countries, who collectively raised over $200M.As a mentor at Techstars, I've been part of a community that's nurtured 4,000+ portfolio companies across 60+ countries.These fellowships have offered me more than knowledge.They've provided me with a community of like-minded people.Though rewarding, I've always missed the in-person interactions.There's something uniquely powerful about connecting face-to-face.So when I got the opportunity to join MIT Bootcamps’ Venture Advancement Program, I instantly said YES.As they say, I’m ready to "drink from the firehose" of innovation.My mission is deeply personal.To empower immigrants.Each year, more than 1 million immigrants enter the US, many turning to blue-collar jobs due to lack of guidance. Today, we are pleased to spotlight Simon Kim, MBA, one of our super amazing peer mentors in the BMGA Fellows Program.Simon Kim is a seasoned venture investor and builder with product and business development experience. He has recently joined the Natural History Museum in London to lead a venture building project. When you look back at your main achievements in life, it’s often related to your own, personal and individual achievements made over the years.These are very valuable and, together with your failures and mistakes, shape your personality and become important milestones on your way to success and reaching new heights. In this pursuit of success and continuous growth, you often compete with others and always try to be on top, which by definition is impossible.However, when you are a parent, all you wish for is that your children will have the best environment possible to grow up in, get a great education, have a great life, and be successful. When one of your children is successful, they are usually thankful to their parents on being supportive and giving him the tools to succeed. This is true to some extent, but if it were the case, all children of the same parents would be as successful.My eldest son, Adir, is completing his second year as a Data Science and Engineering student at the Technion, the Israel Institute of Technology. Adir was included in the President’s list for his amazing achievements in a very competitive and challenging environment.I am so proud of him, especially because it is all due to his personal motivation, perseverance, and capabilities. I wish him to continue to grow, be successful, and happy. I will be there to take pictures with him along the way. Adir's success is his own, and all I wish for is for him to be more successful than I am.
