Slippery Rock is a very spread-out district, but the student body is still on the small side. I know nearly everyone in my class and the classes around me. It has been difficult to branch out to help figure out what I want to do with my future because of how limited our class options are. We have very few electives to choose from, compared to other schools in the area. We are in close proximity to Slippery Rock University which gives a lot of students the opportunity to explore careers through their programs. Overall Slippery Rock Area High School has not been a horrible experience, but it could have been a lot better.

Slippery Rock offers 8 AP courses taught by mostly qualified teachers. there are a variety of clubs offered, despite the small school size. Sports teams tend to be better funded/ cared for in the major sports (football, basketball), however the smaller teams have a good winning record typically.

Slippery Rock High School had many benefits, but also had many downfalls. I am very thankful for the teachers who actually do their job, as well as the variety of classes the students can take. However, I am disappointed in some of the teachers work ethic considering many students work very hard to do their assignments. If I’m expected to complete an assignment in one night, then I expect my grade to be put in within a week. Personally, I think I should not have to wait months for a test grade or assignment to be graded. I expect the same effort from the teachers if the students are required to do the same. I am thankful that some teachers are easy to talk to if there are any issues though. Overall I think Slippery Rock is an average school district.
