I do think the animations even for getting hit or shooting the gun could use some work, visual feedback is actually a MASSIVE thing, especially when coming off a hit game like Helldivers 2
(not same game but that game is a PERFECT example of why sound quality and visual feedback is KEY to a successful title, no matter the genre!)
personally i would of loved to see them introduce DESTRUCTION in this game, like im talking slight Battlefield levels, like i think it should add that eventually, imagine someone camping in a building or behind a door and just able to BLOW UP OR KICK DOWN THE DOOR OFF THE HINGES so it cant be closed again, stuff like that will be AMAZING to add to a extraction shooter that for some reason not yet has been done (Yet)
But i do agree my hype has been died down from looking at the gameplay they showed, just simply comparing to Tarkov isnt fair for it at this point having the development time of Tarkov vs GZW but i do also agree it will probably be good in the future, give it some time to cook as you said :)

I'm all for this game being covered on the main channel. Empirical graphic information/lack theirof aside, I think their aesthetic is way better than EFT. More color but not unreasonably so, more detailed and appealing medical animations (puffy bandages aside) snappier weapon handling, I love it so far.
It does have a long way to go.
Besides AI, I am interested to see just how far the medical system will go. I would like to see it get as detailed or more so than EFT, and they claim it will be, but they should make sure that complexity isn't all behind the scenes. One of my gripes with EFT since it came out is that all your treatment animations target your left side or your stomach, and that there is zero evidence on the character model what the injury even is. It's all just status effects and magic bluetooth tournequets. There isn't even an animation change if your legs are broken, that should practically be step 2 in a system that deep. Madfinger have shown they take the visual side seriously, I want to know how seriously.

What is gonna actually sell me on this, is if they ACTUALLY double down on the realism aspect, like Tarkov "claims" to do
I want gunfighting, EVEN CQC< to be cover and angle based, not movement based.
I want TACTICS (real world tactics), not ammo meta and movement, to determine winner
Also, the actual open world is a HUGE plus, compared to the rather stale and predictable raids of current Tarkov
(If Tarkov could get away from the fixed spawns and "ready-set-go" raid setup, then they would be closer equals)
Furthermore, if Gray Zone actually pulls through with things like "your in game actions change the game world as a whole", that would also be an advantage over Tarkov.

It is an open world sandbox, the Tarkov comparisons mainly stem from the weapon customization, inventory, and merchant/rep system. There will be a stash of gear to maintain and you will presumably be able to loot players but its not like Tarkov in the sense that you're trying to loot LedXs or whatever to make big cash. It's much more mission-driven, at leasts thats my understanding. Imo the best comparison is GR: WIldlands / Breakpoint but more "hardcore".

While I think raw gameplay footage like this is ultimately valuable, I dont think this particular approach is good to drum up hype for this particular game. The Devs themselves have said that they really want to immerse the player in the process of it all; selecting a mission, crafting a tailored loadout for the task at hand, treking through the rainforest with your squad as you approach your destination, before finally executing your plan. Shooting enemy AI is such a small part of whats (imo) appealing to this game, yet thats all we really see here. Its the gear, weapon customization, faction gameplay, mission variety, and story quests. All of this stuff is supposed to be present in the games initial EA release and I hope we see more of that stuff soon as well.

    PROs:-
MAP, Lighting, weapons, vegetation, atmosphere, everything except things I mentioned in cons. 22:13 Look at the leg of AI, damm great.
    CONS :-
    1. They need to work on the medical system, it's very basic. I want to see something like ACE3 advanced medical system, where we can use morphine, different bandages, splints, IVs, heart rate, blood pressure, broken bones, etc.
I want to see if a player got hit in the leg, can't run or sprint for 15 minutes and if hit in the arm can't hold the rifle stable. If hot in the chest pain is there unless administered morphine.
GZW's medical system is very forgiving. Bandages disappear after being used on the body? WTF?
    2. AI took a lot of bullets before they died & they are not wearing body armor.
    3. No need for Heli insertion, map looks small.
    4. Damm COMPASS on the top. Give the player an option to use the animated compass, not the UI. Immersion killer.

I'm excited to see GZW still. I don't think it will kill Tarkov, because I don't think they want to try to kill Tarkov. They're going for more of a DayZ-meets-Tarkov-ish feel and I dig it. I fell in love with Tarkov's combat and promise to one day be open-world DayZ-like since they were inspired by DayZ. For me, a DayZ with actually useable AI and a combat system that isn't absolute cheese grater bad is a cool idea and thing to look forward to. At this point I'd vote second channel, but give it time to cook. If the game is enough like Tarkov to stay, then, well, we'll find out in due time. Right now the game definitely looks to be in Ground Branch/Zero Hour territory, which is not a diss, just a general look at current development. These things take time. I think Tarkov's biggest downfall was it released to the public a little too early to be realistically viable until suddenly it was giant.

In my personal opinion I don't think it will get as in deep as Tarkov on the health system or even on the gun moding. I also notice that the time to kill is not on par on a realistic approach since they are calling that they are. I could be wrong. I also notice that there was no gun sway when they where aiming it looked completely static.

I'm doubting this game will kill Tarkov, out of all the extraction shooters out right now I still believe that Tarkov is the only game to do it right despite all of the things going against Tarkov. In my opinion, I doubt that I'm assuming is really trying to be as realistic as possible will be as successful, part of what makes Tarkov so great in my eyes is how it's quite gamified. The way that attachments work, stims, and all the skills that you level up affecting your character. I've seen people say (myself included) that Tarkov is a realistic, hardcore, survival/looter shooter game, but in actuality it's a hardcore RPG with some realistic elements.
This game will definitely have its audience though, there are some Tarkov players that wish the game was something along the lines of Squad or full on mil-sim like, and this will be the perfect game for them.
The only extraction shooter that I'm a smidge excited for is Marathon, that game has me sold on it's aesthetic and the franchise's story. However, Bungie seem to be faltering and just not doing too well from what I've heard. I think they've got something going on, and I'm sure they have some pretty unique ideas for the game, but I'm going to keep my expectations in check.

Been saying this exact thing. I'm excited for it, but people need to realise that this game is literally in a 2016-2017 Tarkov State, and will likely take 5-8 years to fully develop. If they are expecting anything else, they will be sorely disappointed. Just like they are with Tarkov. I see too many people crying about how Tarkov and Arena are "sh*tty complete games", when they are absolutely not.

I mean EFT back then was missing half the animations, ai that did nothing but shoot your stomach constantly, bad movement, horrible audio, the list goes on. This is not finished by any metric, it needs work, but EFT is still not a finished game, and was in a much worse state than this not even 2 years ago. This isn't gonna take multiple years to finish because it's on UE5, an actually competently built engine, and is made by devs who actually know what they're doing.

So true. BSG should honestly just revert to the old 2d directional sound. They have failed to implement proper sound so many times now. It's sad, but it would be better for them to give up and revert to basic sound that at the very least was consistent. First day of playing Tarkov about 5 years ago I complained about the sound ... and it's still sh*t... what an embarrassment.

If grey zone actually put up good lines of communication to their playerbase and mechanics it could kill Tarkov with that alone.
Remeber Tarkov right now only makes money from hackers, Nikita is aware that hackers fund him. Nikata's response is buying prop sets for tarkov irl, saying anti-cheat has been updated, and not fixing major issues (like audio).
Vacuume hackers are back in full force, aimbot, walls, all of the instant ban easy detectable hacks are back because hackers get a month or so of playtime before being banned and buying the game again. 900,000 new accounts purchased last year in Tarkov, lets be nice and say 50% are real players. That is still 450,000 cheaters all getting about a month of playtime, AND THEY MAKE MONEY CHEATING SO THEY CAN KEEP BUYING THE GAME AGAIN AND AGAIN.
Also lets add in Arena, Ive been forced solo SINCE LAUNCH because the invite systems so bugged that I cant see other people and vise versa.
All of this is why Grey Zone can be a Tarkov killer very easy if they just start with transparency and clear communication.

They’ve yet to tell a compelling story about why the gameplay loop can/will be fun, progression or any systems other than a persistent world. I hate when promos are about tech, realism, fancy sh*t that UE5 can do. The fun comes before the sim if you want a successful game. I hope they realize that and are just playing to the roleplayers. But until I get that info I’m just gonna have to ignore the hype train

I think that your approach here is super defensive about Tarkov, rather than being sort of neutral. So your opinion is fairly hard slanted, can't blame you as you have a lot on the Tarkov line.
Yes, this is an early development of this game. Not remarkably, the guns likely all have the same sound for now (not the most important part of early game development, just having "bang, pow" is enough for development sake. The player movement looks pretty good, the level of detail for an early model is super nice, and it seems to be running somewhat smoothly. That the shooting appears to work, that the hit registration seems to work, and so puts it somewhat ahead of Tarkov, IMHO. It seems that these guys are working to make sure the basics actually work, and aren't worried about fancy stuff yet. That is GOOD development technique.
So yeah, wind it back and try again. Think of how you would have reviewed Tarkov in 2016, and then consider how far ahead this game is. You might feel better (or at least less congested, if you know what I mean)

I wouldn't go that far, they've been showing off a pretty granular weapon handling system up until this point (I'll admit being more impressed than necessary after seeing a character close the dust cover on their AR). I'd recommend looking into their ballistics system, if you haven't yet. Whether/how it makes it into the game, who knows, but they seem serious about delivering something immersive. The sounds need work and the recoil needs tuned, sure. They've got time to do all that.

The animations look stiff, the guns look okay but the sound is lacking and very generic. We see no looting, no "smart" AI which is supposed to be one of the main USPs of this game when listening to the game designer talking... I think I'm going to continue dipping into Tarkov and steer well clear of this one for a while.
Edit: Just popped into my head the lack of gun diversity is also a no from me. I love how Tarkov has almost endless amount of guns and customisations to choose from. I used to only use 3-4 guns bue with the new patch I'm making a point to try all of them.

I don't think this game will take 'years' to flesh out. From the development speed we've seen, the communication between the devs and the community, and the fact that it's on unreal engine, they can probably get a substantial amount of work done quickly. The idea of games taking multiple years to be fleshed out after the first demonstrations is entirely a BSG and triple-A studio thing. Sure a game can take years to develop, but not flesh out, and the hardest part to finish, the foundation is already here and looking good.

Something not mentioned the terrain for a mountainous area is WAY TOO FLAT. They are underestimating cheaters. Such flat terrain is going to lead to so many kills when cheaters arrive at least in Tarkov you have such excellent map design that had cheaters in mind. Tons of elevation, trenches (literially), ditches, dips, etc,. you had to have bad spawning or make choices to be in the open. Here you're absolutely screwed no matter what cause the whole map is practically flat. Also the pristineness of some things make it look out of place. Vehicle rusted and shot up; perfectly shiny windshield. The guys arm looks like he just got out of a nice steamy shower. Etc,.

They learned how to make rice paddies that are layered in tiers specifically for this reason. Did you not see them flying over its flat for miles.
Even the buildings, roads, are all on flat terrain. There's like 1 hill and a few 1-2 foot dips in the ENTIRE video.
A cheater can stand 1-2 miles out and if they don't have a limitation on bullet physics they're going to be able to head shot you in seconds.
This is such bad map design that the game is potentially dead if released like this. Like I was going to buy this 100% but I'm not buying a future dead game.
I know it's hard to comprehend but no game other than ARMA or some other game like that has this kind of design.
Difference is ARMA is often on private servers with an admin who will kick cheaters. This will not have that feature.

"No mountainous area is like this in life"
Have you ever seen rural Vietnam? How sheltered are you?
The fact that you praise developers for designing their game around cheaters is telling for not only you but the devs if you are actually implying instead of preventing cheaters they would cater maps and their entire game around them? Grey Zone will hopefully provide actual anti cheat unlike Tarkov's cheat infested failure of a live game.
"This is such bad map design that the game is potentially dead if released like this. Like I was going to buy this 100% but I'm not buying a future dead game."
